Google Acquired Photo Editing Tool Like Instagram

The software giant has recently snapped up German company Nik Software, thus also acquiring Instagram rival called Snapseed.

Senior Vice President for the company, Vic Gundotra, confirmed on Google+ that the company had made the acquisition, but he didn’t provide any other financial details. He just welcomed +Nik Software to the Google family, explaining that the company is dedicated to provide its users the opportunity to create photos they absolutely love, and Google believes that +Nik could do this better than anyone.

As for Nik Software, the company also published a statement on its official website, announcing the deal that would provide Google with access to photo editing instruments. The firm said it was pleased to announce that the software giant has acquired Nik Software, also noting that the company has spent seventeen years creating “world class digital image editing instruments”. The company added it has always aspired to share its passion for photography with the others, and with the support of the search giant it hopes to be able to help millions people make awesome photos.

In the market, Nik Software’s application called Snapseed is referred to as a competitor to the very popular now photo editing instrument named Instagram. The latter was recently acquired by Facebook in a billion dollar deal and is widely used by Twitter users. The experts believe that since the search giant announced the deal through its Google+ service, it seems likely that the photo editing application will be used together with its own social network offering, which also represents one of the Facebook’s rivals.
